I am still trying to get my wipers off. On more modern cars, there is a cap that pivots down over the post that the wiper attaches to. The wipers on my '71 Gt appear to be the same, but I can't get the thing to budge. Can I get it to pop up? Am I just being too shy?

They are the same. Perhaps using a flat blade screwdriver to twist while backed up against something other than the paint will break it loose.
Some MG wipers have the screw in the center that has to come out first. With that removed they should just pry up. The other style has a small clip on the lower ridge that has to be pushed out for the wiper to slid up.
Don
Are you trying to remove the whole wiper arm or just the blade assembly?
The whole arm. I looked in my chilton's. It seemed to say you just pulled up and wiggled them off. No mention of any clip. I'll try to get a closer look.
There is a small clip near the part where the arm extends out for the blade. It should only cause the mount to hang up a little. Usually the aluminum is oxidized and it can be a PITA to get off. Try some light prying with a screwdriver ........
Hey, there was a small spring loaded clip. Got them off pretty quickly, once I moved it out of the way. Thanks.
Now I am going to dismantle from the inside trying to get the wheelbox nut off.
When I changed mine, I just broke those little nuts with a nut cutter and installed new chrome nuts when I put it back together. Try taking off one and you will see why ............
