I would like to convert to solid wheels on my 71 B,what does it entail? Any where for new or used items?

New rear end, new hubs for the front.

Do you have a source for used parts or a donor vehicle? You will need the front hubs from a solid wheel car. The WW axle is a wee bit shorter than the steel-wheel axle so you will either need to swap out the whole axle ass'y, or, if you plan just to swap rear hubs, you will need spacers on the rear. An alternative to spacers would be to look for some wheels, like Datsun Alloys, that have an offset that puts the wheels a bit further out. If you trade axles, heep the handbrake cable from the car intact. /It will be too short for the new axle, but someone here knows how to make a nifty little externder that makes it work. Perhapd he will chime in here

So you will need from the donor vehicle:
Front Hubs
Rear axle, or rear hubs.

You'll also need
Wheels, of course
Brake flex-hose

This has been discussed at length, in the recent past, so you might try the search function, but it's a bit of a crap-shoot. Or is that grab-bag?

Some people want to convert their steel wheels to wire wheels. Hopefully you can find someone else who wants to convert and you can simply trade the parts you need.

Someday I'm going to go back to wires, but not until I can afford a new set of Daytons! I have Datsun wheels on a wire wheel housing with bolt-on hubs.

new hubs at the very least.

with the4 late axle you CAN use steel wheel hubs on the ww axles. It offsets the mating surface about 3/8" inward, reducing track by 3/4" or so. some of this (or all of it) can be gotten back using longer studs and spacers.

BUT it also gives you some greater degree of freedom in what wheels you can use. I have a set of period slot mags (from a Datsun 610 I think) that simply don't have enough backspace to fit on a steel wheel rear but I have always wondered if they
d work with a WW axle.
