Thought I posted this but it seems to have disappeared.
I need a bunch of stuff for the dash controls on the bugeye. Other than the Speedo and the Tach, I pretty much need everything.
The PO has pretty much an acid trip of switches and gauges. Of prime concern is the ignition/light combo switch since it would other wise leave a big hole in the newly covered dash.
I know the heater cable/switch is pretty much unobtanioum but might as well see about that also.
Need for sure:
1-Combo temp/oil pressure (broken capillary)
2-Ignition key/ light switch
3-Whatever holds the light in place for the indicator (above steering column)
4-Wiper switch
5-direction switch
6-Choke cable assembly
7-Starter pull assembly

Depending on how "concors" you want your car to be it is very possible to fix your dual-gauge by splicing (soldering) the cap-tube from a generic temp gauge (ie the $13 Harbor Freight one) into the dual one. I don't have the links right now but they are pretty easy to find if you are interested.

Not doing concourse, just serviceable. I have read a write-up on repairing the capillary tube, but no idea of where I would find the replacement bulb and tube. I believe the fluid inside is ether and the process involves dry ice to liquefy while doing the joining.

As I said, Harbor Freight has a 3-gauge set for $13.00 that includes a cap-tube temp gauge.
You don't need dry-ice but with regular ice you don't have a huge amount of time but it isn't too hard.
Give it a try, if you can weld (or if you can't have your avatar do it for you!!) then it shouldn't be too hard to solder.

I did the repair using a saltwater/ice bath and it worked fine and has held up well. I bought a $20 gauge from the local autoparts store. BTW, beer can be too cold IMO (simultaneous experiment)
always wanted to try this repair. ets see if I can find a capillary for a decent price on this side of the border.
Anyone have a link to the proceedure?
Pete
Love this place.. thanks for the link! Hope I don't blow up!
