Anyone have a good used jack/tool kit they would be willing to sell? I just bought a 79 and for some reason it is missing. Thanks.

Hey Jon, the stock jack is unwieldy at best - you might want to consider using an inexpensive "trolley jack" (rolls on the floor with four wheels). Most chain auto parts stores have them for $20 or so. They fit right in to the trunk/boot to the right of the spare tire.

Another option is the "scissor-type" jack available from any Japanese car you can find in a salvage yard. About $25 at the most. Don't forget to get the handle as well.

hey jon desmond is rite be carefull with the stock jack it is know to rotate in the socket and drop the car it is nice to have to complete your car but you might want to consider getting a stable hydrolic one for use it's safer

It's amazing how two threads can be going about the same thing, on the same site, and have completely opposite information! Not saying either is right or wrong, just a funny observation.

Yeh the other one was very pro the stock jack. I use mine all the time in the shop. I can lift the entire car up on jacks with only two lifts.

That is funny!

My main complaint about the stock jack is that the top of it can hit your door if you're not careful. It never made sense to me. No doubt it can lift and it cranks easily, I just don't want a jack that has the potential to do damage to the body.

And more interesting is that the ad was wanting a stock jack, not opinions on what you "should" use instead.

Jon, I have some for sale. I think one is even in the appropriate stock black plastic bag. Contact me off line if interested.
