I saw that on Skyes MGB experience, someone had wrote that the Bridgestone Pontenza 175/70/14 tire was a very close match to the original tires that came on the B. I am about to take the B off the jack stands, and after restoring the wire wheels I want to put on a close size match to the original. My 71B original spare is a 155SR14.
Two questions for all of you tire experts:
Is anyone out there running a Bridgestone Potenza 175/70/14, and if so, how do you like it for handling and quality?
Does anyone know of a very close match in a modern radial for wire wheeled cars to the original 155SR14 tire, or 165SR14 alternative?
As always, thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Gary, would the 185's be much wider then the originals? I am looking for that narrow tyre look that the vehicle once had. Chris, do you know what size?

155SR14 = 175/70/14
165SR14 = 185/70/14

Try British Wire Wheel. They have Vredesteins in at least the 165x14, maybe the 155s also. I haven't looked in a long time.

Lee...those tires conversions match the diameter of the tire, but not the tread width. If Tom wants to match the original "skinny tire" look, he'll have to find some 155/85 or 165/85 tires. 10-20mm may not sound like much, but they'll look obviously beefier than the originals.
I suppose it won't be long before 85 aspect ratio tires will have to be bought from one of those companies that make tires for antiques....
