Ouch!!! - Kissed All Better.

As most of you will know 3 months ago me and my car had a bit of a bump while travelling up to the Culzean Autoclassica event in Scotland, well it was a bit than just a bump so much so that me and the car had to be transported back to Northampton on the back of a recovery truck.

Bump

Once I got the car home I arranged to get the car picked up be the insurance company to go and be repaired, well about two weeks later the repair shop gave me a call and told me the they had told my insurance that the car was going to cost £5,400 to repair, five day's after that the insurance company phoned me and said that they were going to wright off the car, well I was not going to except that so two week's later I bought the car back from the insurance and took it to Brockhall Coach Work's and asked them for a quoit to repair the car with me getting all the part's, I excepted the quoit and I delivered the car to them three week after that for the rebuild to start, two day's later they told me what part's I was going to need to do the rebuild so then it was onto the Internet to find all the panel's, after a good look around I found that Rimmer Bro's were the best place to supply all the bit's I needed, so I ordered the panel's (listed below) and got them delivered direct to Brockhall's and the rebuild began, and now four week's later the car is back to as it was before the bump and ready for the road again, all that I need to do now is get it reregistered by the DVLA, this mean's a VIC check to get a new V5 and then a MOT and TF03MGO will be all better and legal and back on the road for me to enjoy once again.

If you ever find your self in a similar situation (I hope not but if you do) I can recommend Brockhall's of Northampton for the repair and Rimmer Bro's to supply all the bit's and the panel's, as you will see from the list of part's and the cost below it is well worth looking into this option if your car is ever made a write off by your insurance company.

Parts list and Cost

  • Bonnet
  • Bumper
  • Slam Panel
  • Bumper Cross Member
  • Lower Cross Member
  • Spare Wheel Panel
  • Radiator
  • Head Light
  • Radiator Fan and Cowling

All but the Bumper are new Rover/MG Panel's.

Total bill for the rebuild was just under £2,000.

A bit lower than the insurance estimate...
