The car died yesterday and I panicked I blew the engine enjoying it on paradise Loop. Nope, a smog hose popped off. All good. Back on the road today.

I am the third owner of this car in 31 years. It was garaged for last 15 driven a few miles a week. The good and the bad of it again.

The Beginning, Chapter One

Drove the MGB-LE home last month around the 10th of October of 2009. It was then and still is original meaning no after market or non-factory parts at this point.

Believing in your purchase is dangerous; but critical in decisions around making repairs. I got ripped off so to speak on this car or was it a misunderstanding? Misrepresentation more likely so watch for the old guy in the East Bay (Relax no worries he has no more MG's selling).

It drove fine until I got on the freeway to home about 70 miles away then it sputtered, popped, crackled, overheated and died! Bad news for me on a short budget instead of spending my $$$ on a Honda. I bought an MG! But I thought well it starts up every time it craps out (that's good). Once at 45 MPH plus, it runs solid in a straight line (that's good). Fire blowing out the back (that's not good). I got it home. But what to do next? As I grew up with British cars being the daughter of a Royal Naval Officer. I looked at the positive and decided to believe in the car. Not ignoring the BAD blindly, but knowing I needed a really honest and super knowledgeable British car repair shop to keep it. The car not running, I lost faith in it and myself as to pick out a car. I left out something; Listening to others telling me what an idiot I am. I put the car on "Craigslist" to sell. Thinking just to get back my purchase price, to buy a practical Toyota or Honda. I did bail out on the MGB. I got two calls and thought well maybe I should reconsider selling it and believe in the MGB-LE another week. I had it towed to the shop I picked. It was a win! My car has a home now and it is still with me! It got a carburetor, a catalytic converter, a tune-up, and a short list of what is next for repairs. I replaced a leaky heater hose myself and lamp bulbs and gave the black beauty a shine inside and out. But in some respects I did get a prize. I drive an MGB Limited Edition, and not a Honda. I made an investment not just a car purchase. I am ahead on value even with the recent repairs to get it running. I could only afford a car at $3000 - 4000. And I got vintage!

The body is in excellent shape as with interior. Lighting all works and electrical is solid. The clock even works and the odometer so the miles are correct and going. Transmission is strong as with the overdrive unit. It kicks in!!

I'll be on this MGB adventure! But I got more than I bargained for now anyway. Stay tuned for Chapter two.......that will start with whether or not I can actually drive wearing my Royal Hunters. And if the car runs in the rain?
