Beginning The Restoration-Lite

Well, the 'B has been sitting on the drive for a few months now, having small amounts of work done to is as and when - my time has been pretty filled up with school; December and January are pretty hectic what with exams and such.

Anyway, for Christmas the MGB Hive delivered me a nice new interior consisting of a red molded carpet set (that is to say that it is molded to fit the car, not that it comes with mold growing on it), a new set of trim panels for the doors, below the rear cockpit rails and for the footwells, all resplendent in red leather with white piping. This is now mostly fitted, just a couple more bits of carpet to put in place, then I can bolt the grey leather seats back in.

On the mechanical side of things, I've purchased a few little service items such as an oil filter, set of points, condenser, dizzy cap and spark plugs. Not to mention the beautiful can of Castrol oil (see the picture!) with which I can treat the car to a delicious and nutritious drink.

So far I've replaced the plugs (after much swearing, shouting and brute force to get the old ones out) and replaced the innards of the distributor, which now sitting in pieces on the kitchen table, much to my parents' delight. Unfortunately I can't test if any of this stuff works yet as my battery is dead, but a new one should be on the way once my next paycheck is in my oily mitts.

That's all for now, I'll be back soon with more pictures and tales to tell!

Ben
