I ended up removing the bottom curvature of the door aperture as well, to gain access to do the clean up & welding to the top face of the sill. I also removed the triangular end piece of the sill (also rotted) which facilitated cleaning out/painting the inside of the rear of the sill. Pic shows top/side repaired & a large hole in the bottom cleaned up & ready for repair piece.

Each spot weld along the wheel arch & the bottom of the dog leg was carefully drilled out. This pic shows how bad it was underneath.

Rear Dog Leg

Although both rear dog legs appeared sound, I could feel rust & holes in the top of the sill from the access panel just to the rear of the doors. Ugh! I decided to remove the RH side rear dog leg first, my intent was to very carefully remove the dog leg so that (assuming no surprizes) I could re-use it, thus avoiding the fit up problems with aftermarket replacements.

The new outer panel repair section (again scavenged from the donor car) was fit up & welded in place.
This fit up was particularly difficult since I had to get behind the vertical stiffener that divides the engine bay from the inner wing.
All that's left to do now is to weld the improvized access hole in the wall of the inner wing.

The inner repair panel was welded in first & then protected with weld thru primer. The repair panel was cut out of a donor car.
