It's Alive, Part Deux
Created on 2008-07-21 10:13:21
I've been lumbering about in the car for the last couple days, driving it to work and on various errands. Mostly it's just during the daytime, since the turn signals don't really work yet (working on that!) and one of the headlights is only getting about 3 volts. Hey, great ... an excuse to wire the headlights on a relay!

It runs very nicely but the carbs are definitely adjusted too rich. I never need the choke and idling for more than 60 seconds at a time leaves the car gasping for air or dying and requiring the "flooded carbs" startup routine.

Still working on details like getting the seat belt unstuck, getting a radio in it, etc. Also have all my vector graphics (racing #s, Lucas and British Leyland logos, etc.) prepped for the vinyl-sign company to cut.

A Quick Picture Of The "custom" Door Panel 1   So the verticals are bloodwood, the panel behind is made of planed-down old-growth fir flooring (scavenged from a house built in 1924) and the bottom is ash. It looks pretty good ....
Interior Decorating     I'm not much of a metal worker, but I do know my way around a wood shop. So when I took a look at the condition of the interior trim bits -- you know, the vinyl-wrapped fiberboard ...
Front View -- Still Can't Figure Out How To Put More Than One Pic In Per Entry! 1   Front view
Waiting For The Windscreen 1   Well ... the good news is, I found the camera. The bad news is, the windshield gasket still ain't here and probably won't be til Friday ... when you ship stuff FedEx, it arrives as...
Road Testing     Well, now that the water pump is in and the radiator back, I had to take the car out on the road a bit. We live on a rural road that goes from nowhere to nowhere, so there's almost...
An Bhfuil Eireannaché? 1   Painting is just about finished! After painting it all cream, I decided the color showed its body flaws a little too well. It needed to be busier, so I'm in the process of making i...
Finish Coat! 1   Couldn't hold off. The BGT spent just 8 hours in primer before I was spraying on the top coat. Three pints of cream-colored paint -- it looks good from far away, I'll have to have ...
Goldmember 1   So this morning I got up early and put a full quart of Martin Senour chromate etching/building primer on the old girl. I have to say, it looks pretty good, even the spots on the fe...
Ready For Spray 1   So I pretty much got the bugger ready to go. The bodyshell itself is much less rusty than I thought ... I may have to cut my fiberglas patches out and replace them with patch panel...
