AC TESTING WITH ENGINE SEAL

Gil Dupre Gold Member — Posted on The MG Experience
Sunday April 26, 2009 12:38 PM
Today is a warm day abot 85 deg F so decided to test my theory of better seal between radiar and engine compartment for cooler temp gage reading.

At idle it ran slightly below normal to normal. At 50 mph it ran at normal.
Took it on interstate ran at 60 slightley above normal.
at 70 a little mor above normal. at 3750 rmp 75mph it was about 1/3 above normal and hot. Temp gage stayed there and didnt rise anymor. Before without seal the gage would go halfway between N and H befor I panicked

AC From Dash Vents

1.Last evening I noticed there was about 1/2 inch space at top of between fan shroud and the top radiator tank. Spread some RTV on tank and on the shroud then took the foam seal that was between the tank and the shroud and stuffed it in between to fill the gap. Ran it up and down freeway this am 85 deg f at about 3000 to 3500 rpm and temp gauge ran just above the normal. So that improved efficiency of the fan shroud. Will check for more gaps around sides then the bottom.

2. Have AC air coming out of center dash vents now temp measures in hose attached to connector on evaporator 2nd from the right measures 46 deg at 3500 rpm and 70 mph outside air is 85 deg temp on freeway probably about 90 and humidity is about 70
