Ac

The AC system is in and I'll charge it this weekend if we hit 70. I bought a Harbour Freight gauge tree cheap, and all I lack is a vacuum pump, but I can rent that from Taylors for $25.00 a day.

I have started my Blood Wood trim package project. I'm making removable dash panels, console lid, and door caps out of Blood Wood. I stripped a steering wheel from a '71 parts car and I'm laminating Blood Wood on to the wheel, if I can steam bend the wood. This blood wood is like Ebony, heavy and hard, but its going to polish like mother of pearl.

Hey Buddy

8/15/05 Sitting at a traffic light yesterday morning waiting to go, I heard a honk behind me and a guy in a Boxter leans out his window and motions me to do the same. Its been raining every day lately, so the top was up, otherwise I would have just turned around. Anyway, I lean out and I'm just expecting the usual....."I had one just like it in high school, what year is it?" or maybe even something like "I wish I had one of those instead of this POS Boxter." Instead, he says, "hey buddy, you got no brake lights." Oops.

Wedge 1x2x6' against brake pedel and rear bulkhead. Brake lights should light. Nope. Checked the fuse. OK. Messed with the pedal switch for 1/2 an hour. Has power, good ground, OK. Bridge wire around brake switch, still no brake lights. OK. Drop bridge lead onto body, blow fuse. Oops. Replace Fuse. Remove lense covers, check bulbs. Both good, OK. Check grounds to fixtures. Both good. Look for 12 V to fixtures on GreeenPurple wire. No power. As usual, it was a bullet connector. The bunch of connectors by the coil where the harness heads to the rear of the car, the GreenPurple, in the middle of the pack, is flapping loose.

Note to self, next electrical problem, check bullet connectors before I do anything else. Buy more fuses.

Rained like hell this week and I had huge puddles in the floors and running down the doors. I don't remember my old MGB leaking this much. Did the removable tops leak less than the fold downs? Anyway, cars running great as of 8/12/05. I think its about time to change the transmission oil and the diiferential lube. But its so damn hot in the garage right now. Mayby I'll wait until September.

Water Everywhere

8/8/05 It doesn't rain too much in Dallas, in August. Today it rained like hell, and there was a hell of a lot of water in my floor boards. The windows leak, the top header leaked, and I think the vent drain is clogged, so I'll look at that Saturday. Nice thing about those heave rubber floor mats, they hold the water. And I alwaqys keep an old full size towel int he trunk. No worries.
