Weekend

The weekend was a busy one for my MG. I had to bleed the hydraulic lines for the clutch, so I could drive it for the first time in a few weeks. (I was more under the weather than the car). After a couple test drives on Saturday, I remembered why I bought a Roadster. To be able to drive with the top down and sun in my face. On Sunday I decided to take the MG to a local car show in Wampsville, NY. Because I didn't pre-register, the car was not judged. This didn't phase me, because it's a long way from a car worthy of judging. But I ended up having to park in a first-come, first served fashion with other cars that were not pre-registered. So, I parked next to a 1948 Chevy Pickup Truck and a Ford Falcon Street Rod. Both were very nice vehicles, but I would have liked to parked next to the other sports cars. Next time, I'll take the time to pre-register as a non-judged car. Today, I drove the car to work for the first time in a month. I was forced to put the top up, because it was a balmy 39 degrees when I left the house. 50 is about my limit for top-down driving. 55 is even better. I'm guessing that I have about 5 or 6 weeks to drive the car and then I'll think about what gets repaired this winter. While the car is a driver, the list of potential repairs is quite long.

Seats

I don't think I mentioned before, but my interior needs much work. I knew the driver seat frame was cracked, so I set out to pick up a seat that would be safer and allow me to drive it this summer. (I put over 300 miles on in June) Anyway, I was able to locate a pair of inexpensive seats from a 1975 MGB. I was able to install them yesterday. four of the 8 captive nuts were gone, which made the installation more of a challange. But it was worth it. Despite the drivers seat having a large hole, the seats are more comfortable and the frames are solid. Turns out the drivers seat I took outhad 3 breaks in it. Right now, my plans are to keep the car as a driver and not a show car. In that case, I'm sure the 1975 seats will be permenant. Perhaps I'll order new covers for them someday. I'm going to try and dress up the door and kick panels. I might try and fashion a pair of door caps out of hardwood. I'm a little more skilled in woodworking than I am in MBG repair.

Running Again

Apparently there was an issue with distributor. I'll be bringing it home tomorrow and hopefully can begin tinkering and driving. I might be looking to join an MG club in the Syracuse area. I understand there was one featured in Sundays paper. I was out of town, but will find and read article. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks

I live in central NY. Bear with me. I'm new to MG's and I haven't worked on any cars in decades. This will be a test to see if I still remember how to tinker.
