Recent Purchases

Over the past Month, I have purchased 17 Mgbs Most are parts cars, but a few come with titles, and I should be able to research and secure the titles for a few more. Needless to say, I will probably have enough parts to finish my GT. If I were reasonable, I would

A)Just abandon the original GT and start a new easier project.

Not buy all these cars, Too late.

C) Never have gotten into LBCs to begin with.

I have only to get back to the states and retrieve them.

Pictures will take a few days, I won't be able to add them all to the registry until I get there and record all the VINs.

The Sickness

It all started when I was 16, which was only a few years ago. I bought my MGB a 1971 GT B.

I learned a great deal about autobody work. I spent a great deal of my time in highschool sanding and stripping paint. Alas I had next to no money to devote to the project. When I joined the army the car went into storage in varied states. It sat outside one winter rusting a good deal of the surfaces that I had so meticulously prepared, but did not spray with a waterproof primer.

I bought a trailer when I got back from Iraq and towed it to my next duty station. I thought it would be a great time and place to work on it. However it turned out that I was incredibly busy. To further complicate things, the on post auto hobby shop charged 4 dollars an hour to work there. To store my car inside was impossible, and to store it outside was outrageous. I was not about to spend 4 dollars an hour to remove rust from my car. Not long after it was parked on its trailer in front of the hobby shop, the President attended the G8 conference on a little island near Savannah, Georgia. He flew into the airfield on post, so at some point in the days preceding his arrival the military police had my car, trailer and all towed. No warning. Cited as a possible threat to national security. Ha!

So, it rotted off post at a storage lot for the next 9 months. I towed it home and it began a period of garage life that has lasted until now. I have worked on it while I am at home, which is infrequently.

Soon I will be home for good, or at least the next few years.
