After a long weekend of cleaning and painting, Molly's front and rear inside fender wells look much better. And with the guidence of Keith Ansell, I have rebuilt and tidied up the entire front end suspension. Getting better little by little.

Biting The Bullet

Well, I have decided to take on the big project. while Molly looks great, the paint is not good. A cheap job done quickly. So I have decided to take her off the road for a couple of years. Not Concurs but I want to take her all apart, remove the rust, have some minor welding done, Pint her the accurate Iris Blue, replace the rubber, replace the enterior, rebuild the engine, redo the suspension and hopefully have here ready for MG 2011 in Reno.

I will update my journal(a good way to keep me on track) and most likely ask lots of questions.

Wish me luck.

The Disease We All Share

I was so inspired by the response to my question about rebuilding an original block on Molly I have decided to start a journal. Hey it's better than a notebook.

As I said on my home page, the disease started when I bought my first British car, a 1962 TR4 that I bought for $250.00 in 1972. All I will say is that being single, a senior in college, and a party animal was not a good mix for a TR4. Quite frankly, I was lucky to live through it. After 5 months of craziness I traded it for a 1968 MGC with an automatic. Not as responsive but wow do those cuise on the highway. Owned that for about two years including a six month engine rebuild due to me seizing the engine (hey I never said I was smart)until I went domestic for the next 25 or so years.

Every spring summer, the disease would flare up and I would start looking for a little british convertable (that I knew nothing about). We all know how the internet has helped and I looked everywhere for a car I could afford. I actually found Mugsy (see photo) in Eugene about 40 miles away. His right rear fender was smashed but ran well and I was hooked. Drove him home the next day and she is still in my garage.

That's it for now. I just wanted you to know that if you are reading this, you also have the disease.
