I Have Tunes!
Created on 2008-05-11 20:21:55
May 10, 2008 - My original British Motor Corporation AM Radio only receives ESPN sports radio, political talk shows and Hispanic music stations.
I was dying for some real music and was shopping for a positive ground AM/FM radio to replace my original.
I found a German Blauplunk or something, but then came across a "power inverter" that advertised it would run negative ground accessories on a positive ground system.
I bought it as well as an FM converter (negative ground).
I recently installed a power accessory outlet to run my GPS and recharge a cell phone if necessary and it has operated perfectly.
I finally got around to installing the power inverter and connected up the FM Radio converter that transmits through the car's original AM Radio and speaker system.
I decided to tap into the accessory power plug line to the fuse box so the FM converter would only run when the ignition accessory switch was activated.
The power inverter worked and the FM converter powered up. As soon as we set the AM station to 1400 mhz, we were in business!
Now I have real music from anywhere on the FM frequency range. The converter and power inverter are both positioned underneath the dash to obscure it from plain view.
