Gas Gauge
Created on 2008-05-25 20:18:36
May 20, 2008 - I acquired a Jaeger fuel gauge on ebay some time ago and was waiting for a good time to replace it. While I had the wheels off replacing the leaf springs, I removed the fuel sending unit and turned it right side up to send the correct signal to the Jaeger gauge. After replacing the gauge, the fuel level reads correctly, but the needle jumps around while the engine is running. I imagine it is the voltage stabilizer that needs to be examined and probably replaced.

But, at least I know how much fuel I have now.

June 7, 2007 - (update) I reviewed the notes from London Auto's technician, Tom. The correct stabilizer is Smiths model BR 1300/01 and Moss doesn't carry it.

I finally found one on line from a Jaguar parts company called WELSH Enterprises. Inc. or www.welshent.com .

So, for $16.95 plus $1.52 shipping, I got the correct part and installed it in three minutes.

The fuel gauge needle measures accurately and holds steady with the new stabilizer...finally, after almost a year, I have a fully functioning gas tank, sending unit and fuel gauge.
