Trip To Abingdon
Created on 2008-07-01 05:50:02
June 27, 2008 - Gased up "Junie", loaded her with a few spare parts, some tools and set out for Abingdon...Virginia. My wife drove the Trailblazer EXT with an attached 4 x 8 trailer.
The MGB drove well and made the trip to our stop at the Hampton Inn on our way from Northern Virginia to Northern Alabama (approx. 800 miles).
The only issue was getting a trimmer at highway speed around 60 MPH. The alignment is good. Must be a tire out of balance.
The next day, we got on the road and after lunch, I noticed the oil pressure dropping as I accelerated up some of the mountain passes. So, we pulled off to check it out and sure enough, she was two quarts low.
I didn't realize she burned so much oil. Now, I'm keeping a closer eye on her and will include some Lucas engine oil treatment with the next "dose".
We arrived at our destination around 6:30 pm the next day. A very long day of driving without cruise control.
All in all, I'm very proud of the car and my ability to put her in safe operation condition for such a trip.
