Kick Panel Speakers
Created on 2007-10-20 21:22:02
Now that the existing holes in the kick panels are patched, it's time to cut holes in them. I have 4 Soundstream Reference speaker systems to install in the car (2 front, 2 rear), in addition to a Reference subwoofer. Each speaker system consists of a mid woofer, tweeter and crossover network. That's a lot of speakers and wires to hide on this small car! The first item to address is the front speakers. I built boxes to install in the front fenders that will hold the front mid woofers and crossovers- the tweeters will be installed in the dash. The Boxes are bent sheet metal that were spot welded at the corners, and welded in place behind the kick panels.
I also formed a flat speaker mounting panel that was welded to the interior side of the kick panel to provide a flat spot for the speaker.
