Exhausting Exhaust Leaks

Eric Triplett — Posted on The MG Experience

My first weeks with the MG and I'm already tinkering. I bought the car with an exhaust leak with the intention of having it fixed and deducting from the price of the car.

I turns out that one of the studs on the manifold has broken once before and a welding job was done to attempt to hold it in place. It has since failed so I have had to find one of these late model intake/exhaust manifolds intact. Living in California has it's drawbacks, since I have to replace with a stock part if I want to pass emissions, ugh.

I was able to find the part on eBay for $70, quite a steal even for a used part, the studs are intact so I hope the rest is in good working order. I also need to put back the original heat shield since I recieved the car without it. Trying to adjust the carb is a painful process without it there to tame the heat.
