Second Thoughts.

After talking to a friend about the fenders, he convinced me to give the rabbit panels a second chance. After fitting them better and applying some bondo, ( temporary ), They look a lot better than I thought they would. I would still like the outside face to be more vertical so I might section the inside lip to remedy the angle.

Still Playtime.

After being disappointed by the appearance of the fenders, I decided to let them set for a while. I'd been looking at pictures of the U.K. Midgets for ideas on the flares when I noticed the wing vents that a lot of them have. Since I had planned on adding vents to help cool the engine bay, I decided to make one to see how it would look. I'll be looking for a spare fender to try it and the flares on before I cut the original.

Fender Flares

I know it's not going to get the car on the ground any sooner, but I felt like doing something fun on the car. I bought a set of rabbit patch panels to see whether they would look better than the Winner's Circle glass flares. After cutting off the excess metal and tack welding the flare on, I don't think I'll use them. I'm going to try to make my own out of sheet metal and wire.

Fuel Cell

After building a pan for the poly fuel cell, I saw clearance issues with the sump and AN fittings. I called RCI to see if they would sell just the body of a flat bottom cell without any holes drilled and they were very accommodating. The new cell was 1/2" wider than the old cell so a new pan was in order. Clearance is still tight but doable.

Rear Suspensions ( Again )

After fitting the upper shock mounts, we noticed that the upper control arm adjusters were too close to the frame. I'll probably round over the sharp edges on the lathe. Next on the list is to replace the bent hub on the drivers side so I can clearance the fender.

Coilover Mounts

I finally decided which coilovers to use. Clearance for the frame, tire/wheel and axle is going to be tight but seems to be okay.
