A Good Cleaning

After a couple weeks off, I finally got back into the teardown of the 'B'. I've completely removed the front wiring and everything but the heater and engine from the engine compartment. the interior is completely gutted and the trunk is empty. Engine, transmission, gas tank and undercarraige are all thats left before sanding.

Another Milestone

I finally tackled the dash and windscreen tonight. With the help of my reluctant daughter, we wiggled and jiggled to get those darn fasteners off, and pull the dash. Windscreen removal was a cinch after that.

Still making progress towards complete teardown. Unfortunately I tore the first piece of side trim off before I realized the proper way to do so. Most exterior pieces are removed.

Almost Out

Engine prepared for removal. Good thing I decided on this. Having no knowledge of cars or their inner workings, this is a good learning experience and I've found a bunch of gifts the DPO left me. For example, no clutch master cylinder, no oil cooler, heater cable cut, several wires cut, pieces missing from the carb, and the list goes on and on...

After deliberating for a while and looking under the bonnet, I have finally decided on a complete tear out and rebuild of the engine and electrical system. This should be fun.

I finally returned home from a 7.5 month deployment. I have now seen the B in person and it is going to be a project. Spent my first few dollars on the Haynes manual and that should get me pointed in the right direction. Disassembly and cleaning out starts this week.
