Had a great time in Breckenridge, if you are on the fence about going to a national MG convention by all means decide to go. The two I've attended have been superb. My hat is tipped to the volunteers who do so much to keep our hobby alive. Next summer we will be driving our B to Canada for MG 2010.

Oct . 25 2008 Blue Ridge Pkwy Tour

Started with a hearty Waffle House breakfast that servrd as the meeting place for 11 lbcs to head west from Winston-Salem on 421 to Wilkesboro. The fall foliage was near peak and the skys were very clear from rain the previous day. The twisty segment began on Hgwy 16 north to Glendale Springs, NC. The merry group took a necessary stop at the gift shop near the famous Chaple with the frescoes. Next we motored to Jefferson, NC and climbed to the top of Mt. Jefferson State Park for a picnic at 3000+ or - altitude. The Mountian is named for our second President's father who did survey work in the area nearly 300 years ago. After plenty of food was consumed and everyone was chilled by the wind we climbed down into our warm English sports cars for more back road fun on the way to the Parkway. The views were as good as I've seen and I say that with 40 years of expierence enjoying the lofty sites. We did another 75 miles along this beautiful road crossing into Virginia and stopping for fuel and another necessary stop in Galax, Va.
Some prefere to sit infront of the TV watching Football on a Sunday but not me. This day with good friends, great weather, and almost a dozen LBCs on one of the best touring roads in the world is my kind of a perfect Sunday.

Brits At Battleship

Plenty of that Carolina blue sky for all three days. The six car caravan was fun and added security. That location on the Cape Fear river with the battleship on one side add the old downtown Wilmington on the other is a very pretty spot for a car show.

Day 3
Another picture perfect morning greeted us as Claire and I took a morning walk in Luray, Va. We checked all the fluid levels and were pleased to find that the only fluid we had to add was petrol,
$$$. We tried the "doggles" [sunglasses made for pets] again, but Claire doesn't like to wear them so we were off for a great day of top down driving on the SLD. The time just flew by and the next thing we knew we were in Front Royal,
VA. After a quick stop for lunch, we were off again using maps we acquired a few months ago. Our scenic byways route took us through Harpers Ferry, WVa. and on toward Frederick, MD to our overnight accommodations in Thurmont, MD. Having a 200+ or-mileage goal each day is working out just fine. We have time to stop when we see something interesting or just to stretch and take a walk. Claire and I both love to ride in the but it's nice to take frequent breaks. We made it all day without encountering a raindrop..YEAH!
