I'm sure you enjoyed that trip. Monticello is one of my favorite places in Virginia. The Skyline Drive was meant to be driven in an MG. Your car looks very nice by the way.

Gearbox Mounts

Now the car is running I have been addressing running gear issues.

The first thing I noticed was the gearbox mounts were shot.

I removed the cross bar and notice this was on the wrong way round.

I replaced the two rubber mounts and the center pin.

Seats And Door Panels Go In

Mark Williams usa — Posted on The MG Experience

I finished the Carpets and door panels this weekend and put the seats back in. Its nearly ready to start up and tune.

Since the door panels have been added the window winders are now very stiff ? does anybody have an idea why?

Hi Mark,
Door panels look great. I found the same thing when I replaced my panels, although I built mine from scratch so it might not apply, but what I found was that the new door panel was a thicker by enough that it caused the window winders to bind when tightened enough to engage the winder mechanism. I read about a fix on MGExp to extend the winder mechanism but found a much simpler fix by cutting off the head of a 3/4" mild steel bolt. I won't go into the details here but I did post it on my own website here:

http://theshoprag.com/mgb-custom-window-crank-extension/

Also, sometimes the frame that the window slides in needs to be tightened or repaired so the window comes down properly. Pop the panel and check the channel. Some adjustment is possible, if you can loosen the nuts.

Hope that helps.

Gord

Thanks Gordon for the insight.
I investigated the problem further and have found the reason why the windows are more difficult to wind. When I refitted the top moldings that sit on top of the door panels i used new screwws that where longer than the originals. When they are screwed home they interfer with the rear glass channel which causes the windows to not glide up and down smoothly. I repolaced the screws to the original size and all now is woring perfectly.

Reagrds,

Mark

I have bought a new fold and stow roof frame and top from Moss but there are no instructions on how to fit it !

I will post a question in the forum pages but I thought I would ask here also if anybody has any guidance they can offer?

Thanks in advance
