NYS Inspection Time

George Heissenberger Silver Member — Posted on The MG Experience
Tuesday October 12, 2010 12:30 PM
OURMG passed its annual NY state inspection- thankfully we only have safety inspections for cars over 25 years old. I don't have to worry about passing an emmissions test. Not that I should worry as she is running great. I wasn't expecting any issues and there were none. Yay! Now my only concern is that my last source for non-ethanol gas (Kwik-Fill) has switched to 10% ethanol. So I'm debating parking the car with the 1/4 tank 100% gasoline I have in the tank rather than going through the winter storage with ethanol in the tank, fuel lines and carb float bowls loosening up gunk.

Beautiful Fall Day

We've been busy planning our clubs Halloween rally for the end of this month and have some nice curvy roads in the route! Today its a beautiful day for a top down fall drive. I'm taking advantage off the sunny day to get in a little time with "the old girl" before putting her away for the winter next month.

Sage Rutty Mendon Rotary Car Show

Continuing the theme of this year- rain on car shows, the turnout was low for this year's Sage Rutty Mendon Rotary car show today. I had competition in my class from no less than a Ferrari, Jag XK120, 100 point MGA and perfectly restored Porsche. I did not win anything. I helped judge antiques 1920-1959 and had nearly 45 cars to judge in just my three classes. Lots of nice cars and a couple of real beauties.

I had another great weekend at Watkins Glen this year. Its all so fun with the town all about cars on Friday. There's so much to see and do there! I had a blast again this year and the two laps of the street circuit following the concours cars is great fun!

With Labor Day weekend here cruise nights will be just about over for the year. I took the MGB to the Log Cabin restaurant this past Wednesday and enjoyed the good friends, music, food and nice cars there.

MG Sign CSI

In the aftermath of the MG sign accident (the trailer flipped in a cross wind about an hour into the trip to the museum)I have laid out the pieces to see if they could be reconstructed. They could if someone was patient and used fiberglass mat to reconnect the pieces and some bondo to fill in the smaller bits that were shattered. The frame is repairable, but we have decided to dismount it from the trailer.
