What would summer be without family reunions. We went to the first of three family reunions this past weekend. We took our MG to the picnic. My brother in law brought his '79 MGB and my other brother in law brought his '62 Fury convertible for a mini show in the park!

Tonight at the Log cabin cruise night it was in mid summer mania with hundreds of cars!. I parked next to a '76 Porsche and across from a '76 TR6. I spent some time talking to a friend from my volunteer Fire Dept. who took top AACA honors for his 30's Plymouth pickup and late 30's woodie wagonat a recent meet. I ran into a couple of friends from high school who still have the cars they had then....a '57 Chevy and a '66 Ford. Later I met a MGB experience member Scott Schipper who has a '75 B. Nice to meet you Scott!

Cruise Night Week

This has been the cruise in week! Last Thursday There was an opening of a new performing arts center in Canandaigua and Peg and I took the MGB to that, afterwards we took the B to a Chamber of Commerce tent party, then ended our night at the weekly cruise in at Wegmans. Saturday I took the MGB to the Canandaigua downtown car show tht I wrote about earlier. Tuesday I went to the Fairport Cruise night and parked next to fellow MGCC member Bob Tescione's Volvo truck. Wednesday two of my brothers in law Pat and Dan met me at the Log Cabin cruise in with Pat's '79 MGB. Tonight I was going to head to the Wegman's cruise in, but got a fire call for a barn fire instead (I'm a volunteer fireman). Judging by the cruise nights it's summer time!

Canandaigua Downtown Car Show

Today I took the MGB to the Canandaigua downtown car show. They had race cars from Watkin's Glen in the downtown last summer and it gave them the idea to invite local car enthusiasts to show their cars this summer. Show cars all got to park on the sidewalks, so it was a little wierd to dive down the sidewalk past pedestrians and park in front of a store! Over 50 cars were there, and they gave awards for various things, but my wife and I were in the shops and I didn't get to see who won what. There was a beautiful Jag XKE and a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith besides the hot rods, muscle cars and other classics. Surprisingly ours was the only MG there, so got I got lots of comments from former, current, and would-be MG owners. It was a beautiful, hot day with lots of sun and temps in the high 80's. Thankfully there was a hot dog and drink vendor right near me so cold water and sodas were just steps away!

What The Dog Ate.

So first off- the MG is OK and safe under the car cover but...Yesterday our dog was put in the garage while we went to work, and apparently there was a mouse in there too...and she chased the mouse into the corner where the hardtop for my jeep is. Getting at the mouse our dog chewed up about a one foot section of the jeep trail cover that I use to cover the jeep hardtop when I'm not using it. Good thing the mouse didn't run under the MG!

We had the Sports car and vintage auto festival XXXV Sunday June 4 and it had rained non-stop all Saturday and all Sunday morning until about 11 AM when it stopped. The sun came out briefly and the rest of the day was cloudy but no more rain. The poor weather hurt attendance and kept some of the show cars away, but we still had 522 cars on the show field, and several thousand spectators. As usual the British cars brought by club members came out in strength despite the downpour! Thanks to everyone involved from show chairman Richard Powers and all the club members as well as the Victor Lions club members for an outstanding effort despite the bad weather. I helped direct cars on the show field and once it stopped raining it wasn't a bad day after all!
