Luggage Rack Solution

When restoring your MGB, you might be lucky enough to find that no holes were ever drilled in your boot lid for a luggage rack. When I did my car, I had two of the "dealer installed" luggage racks that I had acquired over time. I ended up selling those on eBay as I didn't want to drill holes.

Over time, and after attending car shows some distance from the house, I found that I wished I had a luggage rack. I did a search on the web and found the one pictured below. I installed it and find it to be a great solution.

This luggage rack is removable and clamps on to the edges of the boot lid. It is sized especially for MGB and they have different models for different cars available.

Wish To Thank And Congratulate Skye...

I wanted to take an opportunity to congratulate and thank Skye for his efforts in creating one of the best sites dedicated to the MGB. The numbers of cars in the registry is outstanding. I find myself looking frequently to see if more owners have added photos of their cars. I hope more folks do so.

On another subject, if you've never attended a GOF event, I highly recommend it. I attended my first GOF this year in Sebring, FL (a bit ashamed because I owned my first MGB back in 1979), and I have to say it is so gratifying to see your car amongst 150+ other MG's and also to drive in a caravan of 100% MG's. My wife and I have taken a decision to attend the upcoming Fall GOF in Hiawassee, GA in October. This is a 600 mile trek from our home and we have never taken the "B" that far. Still, we absolutely trust it will not be a problem--these cars are more reliable than we give them credit for sometimes!

Attached here is a pic from the GOF 2005 in Sebring. One of the days, we drove to the airport near the track and there was a fly-in going on at Bob Tulius' Group 44 Hangar. Very cool!
