Comments on "Journal Entry: Retrofitting EFI Experiences Overview" –
Im considering converting my VW T3 camper to EFI from a peirburg carb and was really ineterested to see your posts.
I was considering going really simple and just doing the injectors controlled by a self made controller that had only the revs and throtle position as sensors - choke would be handled by a manual choke button that enrichened the mix based on the button and timming advance would be based on revs sensed by the distributor. I don't think i need an oxygen sensor as the carb system doesnt currently have one and my main aim is to emulate that. As to manifold vacum sensor - isnt there a direct relationship between revs and manifold vacum so i could estimate the vacum from the revs?
Would be interested to hear your thought?
The basic efi strategy is measure the amount of oxygen let into the cylinders (calc from gas law, cyl displacement and manifold vacuum)and then squirt in the right amount of gasoline to match the amount of oxygen for complete combustion.
