ReAssembly Day 2

A little more progress made. Motor & Trans is in. Hydraulic and gas hard lines routed. Brake Master & Clutch Master installed and plumbed. Refinished gas tank installed and steering column temporary set for moving. Final buff and initial wax completed to really gauge the paint finish. Some door hardware installed to keep doors closed while moving about. Now on to the windshield and other major body components to prepare for new interior install. Can hardly wait for the completion of that bit of work!

What color are you going with on the interior? Red maybe?

Finally have the opportunity to start reassembly on the 74 B. Feels great! Hopefully steady progress can be maintained until this beast is finally back on the road under her own power.

Today consisted of minor wet sanding and prepping paint bay for final spray - a lot of cleaning!!!!
Car was masked followed by multiple color coats and then 3 coats of clear. Quite pleased with the results.
Tomorrow we can actually see her in the sun!
1 Run, 1 Hit and 1 Error resulting in 1 very dead fly!
Hopefully that spot will buff out.....WooHoo!!!!!!

Scott, that looks really good. What color is that? I like it. Gary

Hi Gary, sorry for the delayed response, have not been on the site in quite a while. The color is Grampian Gray. It was a color used for a few years on MGB GTs for a few years in the late 60's. Rare color not seen much and have only seen on a roadster one other time. See new post for a long awaited update with final buff/wax and engine install.

No wonder I liked that color. That is the same color as my GT that is being restored!

Today's progress consisted of hanging doors, trunk lid and hood and then a full day of wet sanding the exterior primer coat. Man, what a lot of work.
Still having fun but the energy level is starting to wane a bit.

The Paint Job Begins!

First ever attempt at painting a car.
She is a bit of a frankenstein due to mixing primers for different areas and phasing of work but paint mentor believes we can salvage.
Last outer primer coat now in place and will be sanded; then color will be applied.
Man...this is hard work. My hats off to the folks that do this more than once.
