The hard top on this 76 Midget belongs to our 1966 Austin Healy Sprite. I have now just got home from my second knee replacement on the same knee, within 10 months. I hope to be able to start working on all my cars in about 6 to 8 weeks. I'v done nothing to the gas tank, from my last entry.

Gas Tank Removed 76 Midget

Well here I am thinking like everyone else, OK no one else is going to start this project! So let's get going. Now lets get the car up in the back high enough to drop the gas tank. I put the car on car ramps under the rear tires and used my floor jack with a 6x6 railroad tie about two feet long under the gas tank( The day before I sprayed all the nuts with this stuff called "PB" it breaks through rust like nothing else.) Inside the trunk I disconected the filler hose and the small evaporator hose. There was about 5gals of gas in the tank from 21yrs ago that had to be taken out before I even started, if you could call it gas! I had the tank out and the old sending unit, in less than 15min. Now I have to look for someone to clean this thing. Just to let you know on new or used parts I deal with this company down in Va. on the internet called www.motorheadltd.com talk to Jeff. It took longer to type this than to remove the tank!!!
