Finally got a chance to make a trip with the "B" last weekend, and I must say it was an adventure. The five speed worked out fantastic, cruising at 65 ro 75 mph on the Jersey Turnpike with the rpm's just above 3,000. The weather didn't really cooperate with rain on and off, but it was a beautiful trip regardless. Just thought I'd document the first trip with the Nissan five speed.....

Just a note to say that the transmission turned out so much better than I expected. The car is just wonderful to drive as I can now keep up with traffic, and now I look forward to doing some trips this summer. Ocean City is the place to be with an MG cruising up Coastal Highway. I'm not sure if anyone else reads these entries, but if you haven't driven an MG with an overdrive or a five speed, you just don't know what your missing. The car is totally different. Well the 300zx trans is in the car. It slid in just as nice as can be. I will be able to change the clutch without pulling the engine, since I put the trans in with the engine in the car. So far everything is working out great. I'm having the slave cylinder hose made and that should be back by Wednesday. I have the driveshaft thing worked out and the shifter turned out better than I thought. If all goes as planned I will be able to make my yearly Christmas Day Run. That would be a nice present. ...

I am well into my quest to bring a five speed to my '71 MGB. I have the trans I want to use and am having my machine shop making the modifications needed to make this all come together. I'm not using anyones "kit" to do this as I like to figure things out myself and I'm not one to cut up a car to make it work. One problem I have come across is that the point at which the shifter come through the floor tunnel is about tree inches off towards the rear of the car. I could make a "funky" shifter ada...
