After much debate, I eventually finally decided to go ahead and purchase my first classic. I have always had a passion for classic british and one of my favorites was always the MGB. After searching for some time, I finally found an affordable option hiding in a garage gathering dust in Lisbon, Portugal. She looked reasonable, body work was almost perfect with some minor paint blemishes. The main concern was really the mechanical side.

After a couple short test drives, everything seemed to be in order, tight gear box, normal oil pressure and water temps, with no obvious flaws and only 80000km. Decision time. After thinking about it I decided to go ahead.

I still recall the first trip... driving down the highway with my significant other at the time, it was a joy, until I stopped at the toll booth and smoke was coming from everywhere, Thankfully it was only the brakes sticking, which after some time standing still, could be expected. :)

Over the last two years I have been slowly "restoring" her to her full glory and driving her everyday at the same time. Well a 50/50 split between my Saab 900 Classic, Inga and Charlotte. She has had new paint and chrome, suspension, brakes and overhaul, various engine improvements and soon a new interior to follow, thanks to Moss!

I can not say it enough, an impressive, reliable, extremely enjoyable car to own and drive. Sure, she needs TLC, but if you don't want to give that to a car you may as well buy a Kia.
