Seeking classic car owners age 25 and younger
Do you know a young enthusiast like 18-year-old Graham Kozak of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan? We want to hear about him or her!
Do the kids at high school and college think you’re crazy for driving an old car? Is your idea of style something with fins and chrome? If you (or someone you know) are under the age of 25, and drive a pre-1980 American car as your primary source of transportation, Hemmings Classic Car is interested in hearing about it! Every month, Hemmings Classic Car does a page called The Next Generation, the story of someone doing his or her part to keep the old-car hobby vibrant for the years and decades to come the best way they can: owning and driving an old car!
There's an easy email form on our Web site. Just fill in the blanks, hit the SUBMIT button, and you’re on your way! If we like what we see, we’ll be in touch.
There are a couple of caveats. Proud grandparents with six-year-old grandkids who know the name of every car on the block are not eligible: The owner needs to be a registered owner and driver. No brand-new owners please (if you just bought your car last week, there are fewer stories to tell). Also, submissions ideally should come from the car owners themselves — we're not big on the whole “surprise” thing.
One other thing: Stories with good photos of car and owner together will be given priority (digital shots preferred). The highest resolution photos your camera is capable of will be best for print use; 1 meg photos or larger should do the trick. Check out back issues of Classic Car to see what has run in the past.
Photo tip of the day: Bright, high-noon sunlight is not your friend; a light cloud cover offers the best lighting. Also ... do it now, before the snow flies!

Dan,
That makes a great story line... 20 year old working to bring back a car that's 12 years older than he is. Include a shot of you standing in the engine bay, a photograph of a car that you want your finished car to look like, a part you've refinished as an example of the quality of work, and I don't think an editor could resist.

I'm only 20 and may have to fill this out, but I don't have a picture of me and the car, and it currently has no front fenders, engine, transmission, any of that in it. Thanks for the heads up Carl

I was born on February 29th so in a couple months will have my 15th birthday... can I be counted as a 15YO? 15 is just a little more mature that the way I normally behave myself.
Great idea, good luck with it and promoting our sport with the younger crowd is one of the most valuable tools available for preserving LBCs!!!
Cheers,
Newt

Rusty,
I know you have some great pictures and the story about making/marketing MG products.

Oh come on James! Hemmings would probably LOVE you!!! They'd probably try to get you to write a regular column or something along those lines!

Oh of course they would, but you see, then I would be so busy trying to write my column, that I wouldn't be able to check in daily with the MGB Exp, and I know how much everyone here would just hate that.
Plus, I don't think they have an "Opinon" column.

Dan,
The great time stamp of the student... Finals! You always know where you are in relation to those dates.
Something else that I think is great... you would never know that James, Rusty, Dan, Jim or any of the other "young guns" are that young. All of you write well, express your opinions like adults (better than some of us actually) and make a valuable contribution to this board.

James, in my opinion, most of the Hemmings publications are a little dry. They could use a few opinions! I guess they do have ONE guy who writes up auction results. Every now and then he makes a snide remark about a rustbucket or bondo buggy. They could use a little more of that!
