Hey Guys, I need to install a new commission plate. Where is there another reference to the commission number on the car? As mine is missing, hence my replacing it with a blank plate -- that I'm going to stamp new numbers/letters on.
The commission plate is located on the metal panel structure, on the left, (my car is a 79) as the hood closes, behind the bumper, inside the engine bay. It is an aluminum plate, with red color.
Thanks, Dan

Dan, there was no commission number plate on your rubber bumpered MGB.
Installation of those ended during the chrome bumper period, I believe.

Yo, Good input guys...Rick the G23N 024194 Z...does that correlate to the Vin number in some manner? I don't know if I'm going to contact the UK...if I can online...take months probably. I might just put something on there of my liking.

Not sure making up ID numbers for vehicle data plates is such a "Hot" idea.

As far as I know, it was only a tracking number at the factory.
Theoretically, the commission number assigned to the car *should* correlate with the VIN number also assigned to the car.
The VIN is more important, as that's what is used in titling and licensing the vehicle. i doubt if the government knows about or even cares about the commission number.
